RAMALLAH, August 5, 2018 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Sunday telegrammed his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro and congratulated him for surviving the assassination attempt against him on Saturday.

Abbas denounced the assassination attempt against Maduro, extending his sincere congratulations to Maduro for his safety and for escaping the assassination attempt against him.

“We express to you, your government and your people our full solidarity in these circumstances, which are aimed at destabilizing security and stability and spreading chaos throughout your friendly country,” read the telegram.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro survived an apparent assassination attempt on Saturday after several drones armed with explosives flew toward him during a speech at a military parade.
