BREAKING: Civil protest icon Ahed Tamimi released from detention

RAMALLAH, July 29, 2018 (WAFA) – Palestinian civil protest icon Ahed Tamimi, 17, was released Sunday morning from Israeli prison after serving eight months for slapping an armed soldier who invaded her home in Nabi Saleh village, north of Ramallah.

Her mother, Nariman, who served the same time for posting on social media the video showing Ahed slapping the soldier, was also released.

Ahed was arrested on December 19, 2017 after a video went viral on the internet showing her and her cousin slapping and kicking an Israeli soldier while trying to shoot at protesters in Ahed’s hometown of Nabi Saleh in the West Bank.
