UN's Guterres says 'peace in Palestine must be based on two-state solution'

NEW YORK, July 7, 2025 (WAFA) – UN Secretary-General António Guterres affirmed last night that peace in Palestine must be based on the two-state solution.

In his address to the BRICS summit in Brazil, Guterres added that peace also begins with an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, the immediate and unconditional release of hostages, the free and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid, and an end to the devastating annexation and violence in the West Bank.

He also expressed particular concern about the weaponization of artificial intelligence, in a world where "peace is more urgent than ever," stressing that AI requires a multilateral response based on justice and human rights.

Guterres said, "AI cannot be the preserve of a few. It must benefit everyone, especially developing countries, which must have a real voice in global AI governance."
