JORDAN, March 12, 2018 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Monday met with the King of Jordan Abdullah II in Amman and discussed the overall latest political developments, particularly the issue of Jerusalem.
Abbas briefed King Abdullah II, on the latest political developments in light of the ongoing Israeli escalations.
The meeting came within the framework of coordination between both sides in order to protect the city of Jerusalem and its Muslim and Christian holy sites, particularly following US recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel and US decision to relocate its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in the upcoming month of May.
They further discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to promote them in all fields.
Accompanying Abbas in the meeting in Amman was Saeb Erekat, chief Palestinian negotiator and secretary general of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, Atallah Khairy, Palestinian ambassador to Jordan, and other key officials.
Meanwhile, Hani Al-Mulki, Prime minister of Jordan, Fayez Tarawneh, Chief of Royal Court of Jordan, and Ayman Safadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and other key officials attended the meeting from the Jordanian side.
