Israeli navy detain ten fishermen off Gaza coast

RAFAH, March 12, 2018 (WAFA)- Israeli navy boats on Monday detained ten Palestinian fishermen off the coast of Rafah to the south of Gaza, according to witnesses, said WAFA correspondent.

Israeli naval boats opened machine fire towards fishermen and their boats sailing four nautical miles into the sea.

The navy forced ten fishermen to take off their clothes and go in the water before detaining them and seizing three boats. The detainees and their boats were taken to the Israeli port of Ashdod, north of Gaza.

Israeli navy targets Palestinian fishermen and their boats almost on a daily basis.

According to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), all Israeli attacks on Palestinian fishermen have taken place within the distance of six nautical miles, which it said “proves that Israeli forces‘ policies aim to tighten restrictions on the Gaza Strip‘s fishermen and their livelihoods.”
