RAMALLAH, March 4, 2018 (WAFA) – News about the fatal shooting of a Palestinian farmer in the Gaza Strip by Israeli forces hit the front pages of the three Arabic Palestinians dailies on Sunday.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida, al-Ayyam and al-Quds said that a Palestinian farmer, identified as 59-year-old Mohammed Ata Abu Jame, was shot and injured by Israeli forces’ gunfire while he was working in his farm to the east of Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip, on Saturday. He later succumbed to his wounds.
Al-Quds reported that the Israeli settlement association Ir David Foundation, also known as Elad, revealed 11 new settlement projects in Jerusalem, saying the association is supported and funded by both the Israeli government and the municipality.
Al-Ayyam said that 17 high-ranking US politicians and security officials called on US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to deal positively with President Mahmoud Abbas. They also called on Trump to adopt the two-state solution.
A statement by Prime Minister Rami Hamadallah was reported in al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam. He said that steps to enable the National Consensus Government in the Gaza Strip are not conditions but rather requirements to achieve the reconciliation.
According to al-Hayat al-Jadida, Ahmad Majdalani, member of the PLO’s Executive Committee, denied on Saturday Israeli reports that the European Union (EU) has presented a political initiative on the Middle East conflict to the United States.
Al-Ayyam and al-Quds said that crisis in the Israeli government coalition will result in early elections.
