JERICHO, January30, 2018 (WAFA) – Minister of National Economy Abir Odeh announced on Tuesday that a scanner to check truckloads and merchandise was successfully installed at the Palestinian side of the Karamah border crossing.
During an official ceremony at the border crossing with Jordan, attended by a number of cabinet ministers and representatives of Jordanian and Dutch governments, Odeh said the newly installed scanner will reflect positively on the overall Palestinian exports and on trade between Palestine and the outside world.
She added that the scanner will allow for the daily entry of 20 truckloads with a total capacity of 40 tons of merchandise, compared with the previous capacity of only seven truckloads daily.
“The new mechanism will save exporters and importers a lot of efforts and costs and will facilitate the trade movement, which will contribute to the development of various economic sectors in Palestine,” she remarked during the ceremony.
