Premier to attend donors meeting in Brussels

RAMALLAH- January 30, 2018 (WAFA) - The Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC) of donor countries will begin on Wednesday an extraordinary meeting at the headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels with the participation of Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah and Foreign Affairs Minister Riyad Malki.

Hamdallah and Malki headed to Brussels on Tuesday, where they will also meet officials from various European countries and international organizations that provide aid to Palestine.

Malki told Voice of Palestine radio on Tuesday that the AHLC conference is more political than technical since it will be held at the level of foreign ministers to assess the opportunities and possibilities to reach peace and reduce the repercussions of the American declaration on Jerusalem.

He pointed out that the six-party Arab Committee will participate in the meeting, noting that there is great interest from the European Union to coordinate with the Arab parties in order to study the next steps in the aftermath of the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Malki noted that after this conference, the Palestinians will have a clear vision on the possibility of the European Union playing a separate role in the peace process or within an international context, adding that different ideas will be discussed for what role the EU could play to bring peace between the Palestinians and Israel.
