NABLUS, January 29, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers and soldiers raided on Monday a school in the village of al-Sawiya, to the south of Nablus, and detained a student, according to a local source.
Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activities in the area, told WAFA that a group of armed settlers raided the school and terrorized its students.
The Israeli army also raided the school and detained a student, he said.
Settler violence against Palestinians is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.
According to the Israeli rights group B’Tselem, “As the occupying force, Israel must protect the Palestinians in the West Bank. However, the Israeli authorities neglect to fulfill this responsibility and do not do enough to prevent Israeli civilians from attacking Palestinians, their property and their lands.”
