Explosives found on West Bank road north of Tulkarm

TULKARM, January 27, 2018 (WAFA) – Several explosives were found Friday night on a road north of the West Bank city of Tulkarm that prompted closure of the road, according to the Palestinian police.

Police spokesman Loai Irzeeqat said that police found a number of suspicious objects on the Allar-Attil road and that after examining them by bomb experts, they turned out to be highly explosive devices that can pose danger to life of people.

The road was immediately closed to traffic.

He said the explosives were buried on the side of the road, explaining that the bomb squad was working on dismantling them.

Reports quoted the Allar municipality saying that the same road where the bombs were found was asphalted one month ago. However, residents later said that a section of the road has been damaged.

Heavy rain that fell on the northern West Bank on Thursday and Friday apparently unveiled the bombs, which were detected by residents who informed the municipality and police.

It was not clear where the bombs have come from.
