Arab American rejects Revlon award due to its Israeli Brand Ambassador

RAMALLAH, January 18, 2018 (WAFA) – An Arab American blogger and entrepreneur Thursday rejected a Revlon award because an Israeli actress and former soldier is the American cosmetic giant’s brand ambassador.

According to Amani Khatahtbeh, who is known as MuslimGirl, Gadot’s involvement in the brand’s “Live Boldly” campaign is against her morals and values.

She said in a post on her Instagram account, “As much as this means to me and I would love to be there to celebrate with you, I cannot accept this award from Revlon with Gal Gadot as the ambassador.”

She explained that Gadot’s vocal support of the Israeli army actions in Palestine goes against MuslimGirl.com‘s morals and values.

Khatahtbeh told her close to 50k followers on Instagram that she cannot accept “A Coming of Age, the Changemaker Award, due to her relentless advocacy for Muslim women” and “celebrate Gal‘s ambassadorship after the IDF (the Israel Defense Forces) imprisoned a 16 year-old girl named Ahed Tamimi last month, an activist who is currently still incarcerated.”

I think we are in a moment where we must persist that women‘s empowerment includes ALL women. From the bottom of my heart, I feel I would not embody the meaning of the Changemaker Award if I were to accept it in these circumstances,” she concluded.

Gadot, who was previously selected as Miss Israel, served in the Israeli army before her rise to fame in the Hollywood film Wonder Woman.
