Arab League to hold emergency meeting on Jerusalem

CAIRO, December 6, 2017 (WAFA) – The Arab League decided to convene the emergency meeting on Saturday to discuss the necessary Arab action vis-à-vis US President Donald Trump’s push to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

The meeting will be held based on a request made by member states Palestine and Jordan and is endorsed by Morocco.

“The meeting will discuss necessary Arab actions towards the possible change of the US position that affects the position of Jerusalem as well as its legal and historical status,” the Palestinian representative’s memorandum read.

The memorandum asserted that the imminent US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital was a flagrant violation of international law, relevant UN Security Council’s resolutions and the Fourth Geneva Convention.
