CAIRO, December 5, 2017 (WAFA) – Al-Azhar, the top Islamic body, warned on Tuesday of US intention to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

It warned in a statement that such a move would inflame public opinion among all Muslims and will threaten world peace, as well as breed tension, division and hatred all over the world.

Al-Azhar stressed that taking Israel’s side and preventing implementation of resolutions condemning Israeli acts against the people, land and holy places in Palestine have lost peoples’ confidence in the international community’s integrity, which was one of the main reasons that encouraged terrorism in the world.

It said that Jerusalem’s Arab and Palestinian identity is not up for change or meddling.
