RAMALLAH, December 5, 2017 (WAFA) – Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani Tuesday warned the United States against recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital saying such an act, if carried out, will have grave consequences.

He said in a meeting with Palestinian ambassador to Qatar Munir Ghannam, who handed the Qatari Emir a letter from President Mahmoud Abbas pertaining to severity of US step and its negative impact on development in the region in general, that Jerusalem “lives in the heart of every Qatari, Arab and Muslim.”

The Emir said that he was in contact with the US administration to warn it against proceeding with this step.

He emphasized the need for convening an urgent summit on Jerusalem so that everyone will shoulder their responsibility toward the holy city, underlining his country’s readiness to do everything required in this regard.
