RAMALLAH, December 2, 2017 (WAFA) – A fire that broke out in a house in Deir Dibwan near Ramallah early Saturday has claimed the life of a 95-year-old man, according to the civil defense.

It said its crews responded to a call about fire in a house in Deir Dibwan and when they got there they helped the residents put off the fire and retrieve the body of the elderly man.

The man was living alone in a room away from other homes, which delayed the people’s response to the fire apparently caused as a result of negligence, said the civil defense report.

It warned against leaving elderly people or children alone in homes during the winter season where improper use of all kinds of heaters could cause serious harm.
