Israeli forces detain nine Palestinians in West Bank raids

RAMALLAH, November 23, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained nine Palestinians in multiple overnight raids across the West Bank, the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said on Thursday.

Israeli forces detained two Palestinians after storming their family homes in the southern West Bank city of Hebron.

They also detained a 10-year-old Palestinian child after stopping him at Abu al-Rish military checkpoint near Hebron’s Ibrahimi Mosque.

Meanwhile, forces conducted a similar raid into al-Khader town, south of Bethlehem, detaining a 17-year-old minor after ransacking his family home.

PPS said another Palestinian was detained during a raid into Bethlehem district.

It added forces detained another during a similar predawn raid into Jalazoun refugee camp, north of Ramallah, while another one was detained from Tulkarm district in the northern West Bank.

Forces also raided al-Yamun and Qabatiya towns, west and south of Jenin, detaining two Palestinians.

This came as Israeli forces conducted a house-to-house raid campaign in Azzun village, east of Qalqiliya.

WAFA reported witnesses saying over 25 military vehicles raided the village from its northern entrance, where soldiers and intelligence officers broke into over 30 homes and handed the owners warnings of punishment if stones are thrown at Israeli settlers passing on the road.

During the raid, soldiers reportedly attacked a number of villagers, including a young man who sustained bruises and cuts.

Separately, Israeli police Wednesday night detained two Palestinians after storming their homes in East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan.
