NABLUS, November 21, 2017 (WAFA) –Palestinians clashed on Tuesday with Israeli soldiers and settlers at Joseph’s Tomb in the northern West Bank city of Nablus causing several injuries, according to local and Red Crescent sources.

Witnesses said around 1000 Jewish settlers came to the tomb located in Balata refugee camp in Nablus under heavy army protection to perform religious rituals.

They said the army brought a bulldozer to the scene as they cordoned off the area to allow the settlers free access to the tomb.

Local residents, however, clashed with the soldiers and settlers. Soldiers fired live bullets, rubber-coated metal bullets, teargas and stun grenades at the protesters, who threw rocks and fire bombs at the soldiers.

Red Crescent sources said its crews treated two Palestinians injured during clashes and several cases of teargas inhalation. One of the injured was hit by a live bullet in the leg and was taken to hospital in the city while the other was hit by several rubber bullets and treated on the spot.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces were put on high alert after three Israeli settlers entered the city of Nablus without army permission. Israelis are banned from entering areas controlled by the Palestinian Authority without prior coordination with the army.

Israeli army reports said Palestinians noticed the settlers and set their vehicle on fire before soldiers went into the city to take them out.
