Israeli forces detain 25 Palestinians, including minors, in West Bank and Jerusalem

 

RAMALLAH, November 20, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Monday detained 25 Palestinians, including minors and a human rights defender, in military raids in several areas in occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, said Palestinian security sources and the Prisoner’s Society.

Israeli forces detained the internationally recognized non-violence peace activist and human rights defender Abdallah Abu Rahmeh following a raid at his home in the village of Bil’in to the west of Ramallah. They also detained a minor from the same family.

Soldiers raided Ramallah and searched several homes and shops. Five people were rounded up in Ramallah, including a man and his son, said the security sources.

In the southern West Bank district of Hebron, army units detained five Palestinians, including a 21-year-old young man, after raiding their homes in the Hebron area towns of Sair and Beit Awwa.

Two other Palestinian youths, aged 20 and 21, were detained in the Qalqilya town of Jayyous, to the north of the West Bank, and two more from Qalqilya.

Two young Palestinians were also detained in the town of Ya’bad in the Jenin district and two more from the Bethlehem area.

Meanwhile in the Jerusalem area, Israeli police detained five Palestinians, including three minors.

Forces reportedly detained two minors from inside their family homes in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of al-Issawiyeh, and a third was detained in Shufat refugee camp, in central Jerusalem, and taken to an interrogation and detention center in the area. Two more were detained at a military checkpoint near the entrance to the camp.
