JERUSALEM , November 20, 2017 (WAFA) - The US Consulate General in Jerusalem in partnership with Partners for Sustainable Development (PSD) concluded on Sunday TechCamp Ramallah, an intensive series of workshops and networking under the theme “Business Success through Academic Excellence.”

Over the course of two days, more than 50 male and female Palestinian students from eight universities across the West Bank and Gaza worked with business leaders to apply innovative tech-based solutions to actual problems provided by Palestinian businesses, according to a US consulate press release.

In the weeks ahead, the teams will adapt and deploy these solutions in the private sector in partnership with a range of Palestinian companies and their home universities.

Participating universities included Palestine Polytechnic University in Hebron, Palestine Technical University –Kadoorie-in Tulkarem, Arab American University in Jenin, Palestine Ahliya University in Bethlehem, Al Quds University in Abu Dis, Birzeit University in Ramallah, An-Najah National University in Nablus, and Al- Azhar University in Gaza. 

In his closing remarks, US Deputy Consul General Mike Hankey said, “We hope that the seeds planted during this program flower through future partnerships, job opportunities for these wonderful graduates, and real, sustainable solutions that help Palestinian businesses grow and thrive.”

The CEO of Partners for Sustainable Development (PSD), Jawad Abu Own, expressed his gratitude for the generous support and partnership of the US Department of State to the benefit of Palestinian youth.

The TechCamp Ramallah is in line with PSD’s mission of empowering youth by building their competencies and creating employment opportunities through linkages between academia and industry.

TechCamp is a global program administered through the US Department of State.
