Israel detains 25 Palestinians in raids, places 24 others in administrative detention

RAMALLAH, November 16, 2017 (WAFA) – The Israeli army detained 25 Palestinians, including a woman, during overnight raids across the West Bank and placed 24 others in administrative detention, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said on Thursday.

It said seven Palestinians were rounded up from the Nablus district, seven others from the Jenin area and six from the Bethlehem area.

Three from Qalandia refugee camp,  north of Jerusalem, were also detained along with two students from the Hebron district, including one woman identified as Bayan Khamayseh.

The PPS said also that the Israeli military authorities issued 24 administrative detention orders against Palestinians since the beginning of November that included one woman.

PPS attorney Mahmoud Halabi said Bushra Tawil, a released prisoner from al-Bireh, received a six month administrative detention order. She was detained on November 1.

He said 10 of the orders were passed against Palestinians detained for the first time or re-detained after they were released. The rest were renewed for the second or more times.

Palestinians held in administrative detention are  not charged nor receive a trial.
