RAMALLAH, November 15, 2017 (WAFA) – Based on instructions by President Mahmoud Abbas, the central committee of Fatah movement decided on Wednesday that only members of the central committee who are in charge of reconciliation talks with Hamas movement can speak on behalf of Fatah on the progress of the reconciliation talks.

The central committee of Fatah said, in a statement to the press, that for the fruitful progress of the ongoing talks with Hamas on achieving reconciliation and national unity, and for a successful implementation of previously signed reconciliation agreements, only members of Fatah central committee in charge of these talks can speak on behalf of Fatah regarding the matter.

Fatah and Hamas factions signed a reconciliation deal on October 12 in Cairo after two days of Egyptian-brokered negotiations.

Under the agreement, a unity government will once again administer both the West Bank and Gaza after the rift which followed Hamas’s takeover of the Gaza Strip in 2007.
