RAMALLAH, November 14, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities’ plan to demolish a number of Palestinian buildings in Kufr Aqab neighborhood, north of East Jerusalem, hit the front page headlines in Palestinian Arabic dailies on Tuesday.
The dailies reported Israeli occupation authorities plan to blow up six high-rise residential buildings in Kufr Aqab, a step that would forcefully displace hundreds of Palestinian homeowners.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida added the Israeli occupation authorities have delivered demolition and stop-construction orders for a number of Palestinian homes and commercial structures in East Jerusalem neighborhood of al-Issawiya.
Rising tensions along Israel-Gaza border was also featured as front-page main news item in the dailies.
They reported the Israeli military was placed on high alert and continued to deploy its troops along Gaza borders after the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group threatened to avenge the killing of 10 of the group members when Israel destroyed a tunnel in Gaza on October 31.
Highlighting the blueprint developed by US President Donald Trump for Middle East peace, al-Quds reported the plan would see the creation of a Palestinian state, keep Israeli military presence in the West Bank and Israeli sovereignty on settlements.
Al-Ayyam reported Trump’s Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt stating Trump’s administration would not set timetables for presenting ideas to resume the peace process.
Al-Quds reported Israeli forces conducted detention raids across the West Bank, detaining 14 Palestinians, including a senior Islamic Jihad leader.
Al-Ayyam reported Israeli bulldozers partially destroyed a water pipeline, a 2-kilometer rural road and leveled farmlands in Khirbet al-Ras al-Ahmar in the northern Jordan Valley.
Al-Quds revealed that the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem has sold off land to Israeli Jewish settler groups in East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.
Al-Ayyam reported Israel decided to deny entry to a European delegation, including French officials, who were set to meet with imprisoned senior Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti and French-Palestinian Salah Hammouri.
Highlighting an international conference on the plight of Palestinian children under Israeli occupation in Kuwait, al-Quds and al-Ayyam said the Kuwait declaration calls on the United Nations to assume its responsibilities towards ensuring the protection of Palestinian children.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said pro-Palestinian Swedish activist Benjamin Ladra arrived in Slovakia as part of his 4,800 kilometer trek to Palestine. Ladra started this trek to Palestine on August 5 to raise awareness of the Israeli occupation.
It printed a photo that the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro posted in his Facebook account to commemorate the 13th anniversary of iconic Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
