RAMALLAH, November 13, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authority’s plan to forcefully displace 300 Palestinians who have lived in the Jordan Valley for decades dominated the main front page story in al-Quds daily newspaper on Monday.
Al-Quds reported the Israeli military plans to uproot the Palestinians from their homes and will not allow them to return as a prelude for taking over the land, which is reportedly partly owned by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted on their front page President Mahmoud Abbas’ participation in an international conference in Kuwait on the plight of Palestinian Children under Israeli occupation.
Abbas was reported in the two dailies stating Israeli occupation authorities have been flagrantly violating the human rights of Palestinian children.
He was also reported in al-Quds stating Israel has been violating international agreements on children and that Palestinian children have been the most impacted by the Israeli occupation.
Furthermore, al-Quds and al-Ayyam spotlighted exchanged threats between Israel and the Islamic Jihad and Hamas movements almost two weeks after the Israeli military blew up a tunnel in Gaza killing 12 Palestinians.
Both dailies reported the Islamic Jihad and Hamas movements responded to Israeli threats, calling them a “declaration of war that we will deal with it” and which “reflects Israeli panic.”
The movements reportedly made these remarks responding to the Israeli military major general Yoav Mordechai’s video vowing to “respond with power and determination” to any “revenge attack” staged by the groups.
Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh was reported in al-Quds stating: “Our strategy is unity and our resistance has become stronger, enabling us to counter any aggression.”
Palestinian ambassador to Iraq Ahmad Aqel was reported in al-Ayyam confirming none of the members of the Palestinian community in Iraq was injured as a result of the earthquake that hit that country and killed over 200 people.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said Saudi Arabia has called for an urgent meeting of the Arab League foreign ministers in Cairo next week to discuss Iran’s “interventions” in the region.
Al-Ayyam also reported a Palestinian was forced to demolish his own home in order to avoid incurring demolition costs from the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan.
