RAMALLAH, November 11, 2017 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies highlighted in their Saturday issue different subjects on their front page with al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida focusing on the thirteenth anniversary for the death of Yasser Arafat and al-Ayyam reporting on the Israeli army crackdown on the weekly anti-occupation protests.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said tens of thousands of people in Gaza have spent the night at the Saraya grounds to commemorate Arafat’s death anniversary. A large rally is planned in the Saraya on Saturday. The papers also printed pictures and a cartoon of Arafat saluting.
Al-Ayyam said the Israeli military cracked down on the weekly Friday protests in various West Bank towns causing injuries among the Palestinians, yet nothing serious.
It also reported on Israeli settlers attacking Palestinians in Hebron and on attempts by settlers to steal Palestinian land in the West Bank.
The papers also said Israel is planning to seize hundreds of dunums of Palestinian land in the Jordan Valley.
The three papers also said the Ministry of Interior issued orders to release a lawyer who was attacked in a Nablus court by security members and arrested.
Al-Quds said 23 people were hurt in Gaza when a sign fell during a marathon in the city.
Al-Ayyam said four Palestinian factions have received an invitation by Egypt to attend a follow-up meeting for the reconciliation talks planned for November 21.
It also said the Mufti of Jerusalem Mohammad Hussein and former Latin Patriarch Michel Sabbah have received the Yasser Arafat award during ceremonies held in Ramallah and attended by Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said nine cooperation agreements were signed between Italy and Palestine.
It also quoted the Ministry of Tourism saying vandals resumed razing of land at the archeological site in Gaza, Tel al-Sakan.
It also reported on a meeting between Ahmad Assaf, the general supervisor of the Palestinian official media, and the Chinese ambassador to Palestine to discuss cooperation.
