RAMALLAH, November 8, 2017 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas is scheduled to visit Kuwait next week as Kuwait hosts an international conference on the suffering of Palestinian children, with the participation of ministers of social affairs from all Arab countries, as well as ministers from Palestine and 58 other parties, including embassies, civil society organizations and charities from Kuwait and the United Nations, in addition to several international organizations.
The conference aims to highlight the weaknesses and difficulties that hinder the process of developing and providing a better life for Palestinian children.
The conference will discuss a number of important topics related to the situation of the Palestinian child under international law and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the role of the international community and civil society organizations in promoting and respecting the rights of the Palestinian child and the deteriorating educational, health and psychological conditions of Palestinian children held in Israeli prisons through testimonies by Palestinian children participating in the conference.
The conference will also discuss legal protection for Palestinian children under occupation, and development of the necessary mechanisms to activate them, as well as discuss development of the capacities of the Palestinian child and to prepare him educationally, psychologically and culturally to face the occupation.
