HEBRON, November 7, 2017 (WAFA) – Several Palestinians, some elderly, Tuesday suffered from teargas inhalation fired indiscriminately by Israeli soldiers at residents’ homes in the Hebron area town of Beit Ummar, said to local activist Mohammad Awad.
He told WAFA that Israeli forces stormed an area of Beit Ummar close to the illegal settlement of Karmi Tzur and began firing rubber-coated steel bullets and teargas canisters toward homes for no apparent reason.
A number of people suffocated due to teargas inhalation, one, a 65-year-old man, and other elderly people who required treatment.
Awad said the town youths confronted the soldiers after they had fired teargas at the homes even though there were no confrontations in the town.
Israeli forces regularly attack homes in the area of Beit Ummar located near the settlement built illegally on Palestinian land in northern Hebron, deliberately provoking residents and chasing farmers off their land in an attempt to force locals out of the area as a prelude to take it over for the benefit of expanding the settlement.
