RAMALLAH, November 6, 2017 (WAFA) - Attorney-General (AG) Ahmed Barak decided on Monday to establish a human rights unit in the AG‘s office in accordance with the provisions of the Palestinian Basic Law and the international conventions and treaties Palestine had signed that are related to human rights.

A statement issued by the AG’s office said this unit, which will include staff from prosecutors and administrators, will function under the direct supervision of the AG.

The human rights unit will handle complaints related to human rights violations as well as monitor performance of prosecutors and judicial officers.
