RAMALLAH, November 4, 2017 (WAFA) – Palestinians buried on Friday Mohammad Mousa, 26, from Deir Ballout, near Salfit in the north of the West Bank, who was shot dead on Tuesday by Israelis at the entrance to the illegal Halamish settlement, northwest of Ramallah.

Mousa was on his way with his sister Latifa, 33, to Ramallah driving a car with Israeli license plates when an Israeli army patrol at the entrance to the village of Nabi Saleh, near Ramallah, waved to him to stop.

However, driving an illegal car, he panicked and drove away, but when he got to the entrance of the nearby settlement, an Israeli settler opened fire at the car killing Mohammad and injuring his sister in the shoulder, according to a report by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) that investigated the incident.

The army first claimed that its forces shot at a “suspicious” car and then claimed Mousa attempted to run over soldiers. It later retracted its story.

Palestinians said Mousa bled to death after he was left on the ground untreated for a while before an Israeli ambulance that later arrived at the scent took  him away.

PCHR said, according to a video tape of the incident, that Mousa told medics from the Palestinian Red Crescent whom the army had briefly allowed to check him before the Israeli ambulance had arrived that he sped away when he saw the soldiers.

Normally, in cases where a Palestinian is shot dead or wounded in an attack, the army would not allow Palestinian ambulances to attend to the dead of wounded and if wounded, he or she is taken to an Israeli hospital and kept away from public eye.

In this case, the army allowed a Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance to check the Mousa siblings and the sister was taken to a hospital in Ramallah.

Also normally, the army would keep the corpse of an attacker for a long time. However, Mousa’s corpse was returned to his family for burial on Friday afternoon.
