Israeli army prevents journalist from covering Kufr Qaddoum weekly demonstration

QALQILIA, November 3, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Friday prevented journalists from entering the village of Kufr Qaddoum to cover the village’s weekly and peaceful anti-settlement demonstration, said WAFA cameraman.

WAFA cameraman, Yamen al-Nobani, said a number of journalists, including local and foreign reporters, were held for hours at the entrance of the village and prevented from entering to cover the demonstration.

The demonstration is also held weekly to protest Israel’s closure of the main road that connects the village of Kufr Qaddoum with the city of Nablus since 2003.

The Israeli military’s reaction to the peaceful protests usually ends up violent.

The army fires tear gas and rubber-coated metal bullets at the protesters and homes in the village, causing many suffocation and injuries. Raids are usually conducted against the residents during the night to detain activists. Army checkpoints often restrict movement of people, and international solidarity activists are pursued and prevented from joining in the weekly protests.
