RAMALLAH, November 2, 2017 (WAFA) – Marking the 100 year anniversary for the sad occasion of the Balfour Declaration, the state-run media in Palestine came out on Thursday in black.
In a clear shift from the normal white background and black font, the Arabic wire of WAFA News Agency came out on Thursday in black background and white font.
“We came out in black today to let the world know that the Balfour Declaration has turned our life black for the past 100 years,” said Kholoud Assaf, editor-in-chief of WAFA News Agency.
Black was also highlighted in the state-owned al-Hayat al-Jadida newspaper, which highlighted its main front page headline “Balfour, the null and void promise” on black background.
Staff at Palestine TV wore black as the term ‘Down with Balfour Declaration” was posted in Arabic, English and Hebrew on the TV screen.
The radio and TV, in cooperation with other private stations, are holding a combined daylong special broadcast marking this occasion.
