PLO launches #MakeItRight campaign marking Balfour Declaration

RAMALLAH, November 1, 2017 (WAFA) – The Department of Culture and Information in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO-DCI) prepares to launch on Wednesday the #MakeItRight campaign on social media targeting British officials celebrating the infamous Balfour Declaration.

“As we mark the calamitous centennial of the Balfour Declaration tomorrow, we would like to remind you of the social media storm taking place today from 6pm-10pm local Palestine time (4pm-8pm UK time and 12pm-4pm EST in the US) for the #MakeItRight campaign,” said a PLO-DCI press release.

“The social media storm will be targeting the Twitter accounts of British Prime Minister Theresa May, Foreign Minister Boris Johnson and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. It is our hope that individuals will tweet a demand @ these accounts with the hashtag #MakeItRight.”

The Palestinians have demanded that Britain acknowledges the historic mistake for the promise then British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour has made to Europe’s Jews on November 2, 1917 of a homeland in Palestine totally disregarding that country’s rightful owners, the Palestinian Arab population, and which paved the way for their uprooting from their homes and dispersal all over the world.

Instead of rectifying that mistake, Britain has decided to celebrate the Balfour centennial with Israeli officials at a dinner party in London.
