RAMALLAH, October 11, 2017 (WAFA) – The United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is expected to vote on Wednesday on draft resolutions relating to the occupied Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem, and the situation of education in Palestine, Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Riyad Malki said.

He told the official Voice of Palestine radio on Wednesday that the Palestinian leadership sought to include in these resolutions all issues related to Jerusalem, including Israeli excavations in the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as Israel‘s non-compliance with international law.

He said that the draft resolutions on the occupied Palestinian territories are always on the agenda of the Executive Office of UNESCO, which is meeting for the third consecutive day in the French capital Paris.

He stressed the need to defeat all Israeli attempts to drop item seven related to the situation of human rights in Palestine from the resolutions, pointing out that it tried but failed to remove this item in a meeting on the sidelines of the sessions of the United Nations General Assembly.

He said Palestine will continue to expose all Israeli violations against the Palestinian people and their land in international forums.

On the other hand, Malki said that he will hold an important meeting on Wednesday with President Mahmoud Abbas regarding how to proceed with the International Criminal Court, the United Nations Security Council and other international organizations, pointing out that further contacts in this regard will be conducted with the European Union.

The Foreign Minister revealed that the leadership plans to pursue legally 25 European parliamentarians who have visited illegal Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank in the past two days through their parliaments and governments for violating international law.

He said these parliamentarians belong to the Christian Zionist parties that work for Israel’s interest.
