Israeli forces detain 27 Palestinians in West Bank raids

JENIN, September 29, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Friday detained 27 Palestinians in multiple overnight raids across the West Bank, said security sources.

Israeli forces conducted large-scale raids in Yaabad town, southwest of Jenin, ransacking many homes and detaining 13 Palestinians, including two minors.

Israeli troops reportedly deployed and set up ambushes in the olive groves surrounding the town before proceeding to storm detainees’ homes.

The raid triggered clashes, during which troops fired concussion grenades, tear gas canisters and live rounds, causing many residents, including minors, to suffer from tear gas inhalation.

Another Palestinian was detained by Israeli police while he was working at a construction site in the northern Israeli city of Bisan. He was reportedly identified as a resident of Silat al-Harithiya village, northwest of Jenin.

Meanwhile, forces conducted a similar raid into Silwad town, east of Ramallah city, handcuffing and detaining two Palestinians.

In Jerusalem district, undercover Israeli forces detained four Palestinians during clashes that erupted in Biddu town, northwest of Jerusalem city.

Biddu is one of several Jerusalem-district villages placed under Israeli siege following a shooting attack carried out by a resident of the b\nearby village of Beit Surik on Tuesday, which killed an Israeli border police officer and two Israeli security guards outside Israel’s illegal settlement of Har Adar.

In the southern West Bank, forces raided Aida refugee camp, north of Bethlehem, detaining a Palestinian teenage.

Two Palestinians were also detained after being stopped by Israeli forces at a checkpoint at the entrance of Beit Fajjar town, south of Bethlehem.

Elsewhere in the southern West Bank, Israeli troops leading tracking dogs stormed several homes in Hebron city.

WAFA correspondent reported a homeowner saying troops leading tracking dogs broke into his home and smashed the door before physically assaulting his elderly wife and dragging her on the ground.

He added his wife suffered several bruises as a result of the assault.

Another pregnant woman reportedly panicked after troops leading tracking dogs stormed her family home. She was evacuated by Palestinian Red Crescent medics to a hospital for treatment.

During the extensive raids, troops detained three Palestinians and seized surveillance cameras belonging to a home.
