Settlers attack Palestinian vehicles, level land in West Bank

HEBRON/BETHLEHEM, September 26, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers attacked with stones Palestinian vehicles near the towns of Bani Naim and Yatta, to the south of Hebron, and others leveled land in al-Khader, south of Bethlehem, according to local and security sources.

Dozens of settlers, some of them armed, gathered at road number 60 outside the illegal settlement of Kiryat Arba and pelted vehicles with Palestinian license plates passing on the road with stones and empty bottles.

Damage was reported to a number of vehicles, said the Palestinian security sources, but there were no reports in injuries other than panic among passengers and delays in traffic.

Meanwhile, Israeli settlers from the illegal settlement of Hitmar bulldozed Palestinian agricultural land belonging to farmers from the Bethlehem-area town of al-Khader to build a sewage system for area settlements, according to Ahmad Salah, a local activist.

He said such action is going to deny many farmers access to their land in that area.

According to OCHA, “Settler violence and poor law enforcement by the Israeli authorities have undermined the physical security and agricultural livelihoods of tens of thousands of Palestinians in some areas of the West Bank and generated the need for assistance and protection by humanitarian actors, especially for vulnerable groups such as children and women.”
