NEW YORK, September 21, 2017 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas and the accompanying delegation left New York on Thursday morning, hours after he asked the 72nd meeting of the UN General Assembly to correct the injustice done to the Palestinian people.
Abbas urged member states to correct a long injustice done to the Palestinian people since the Balfour Declaration 100 years ago until today and recognize Palestine as a state with full UN membership.
On the sideline of the meeting, Abbas met with US President Donald Trump; Egyptian President Abdul-Fattah el-Sisi; King of Jordan, Abdullah II; President of Panama, Juan Carlos Varela; Turkish President Recep Tayyib Erdogan; Brazilian President Michel Temer; Lebanese President Michel Aoun; Dominican President Charles Savarin and others.
Abbas discussed mutual affairs with those leaders and the overall situation in Palestine, including efforts to revive peace talks with the Israeli side.
