Palestinian laid to rest after Israel releases his body

BETHLEHEM, September 9, 2017 (WAFA) – Raed Salhi, 21, from Dheisheh refugee camp in Bethlehem, was laid to rest on Saturday at the Martyr’s Cemetery in nearby Irtas, according to WAFA correspondent.

Salhi was shot and critically wounded by Israeli soldiers on August 6 following an army raid of the refugee camp. He was taken to an Israeli hospital where he was kept until he was pronounced dead on Sunday.

The army however held his body refusing to turn it to his family for proper burial until Friday evening when the family got Salhi’s corpse at a Bethlehem checkpoint.

A general strike was called in Bethlehem and surrounding areas until 3:00 in the afternoon in mourning and to allow people to participate in the funeral.
