RAMALLAH, July 31, 2017 (WAFA) – The aftermath of Al-Aqsa Mosque crisis dominated the front page headlines in Palestinian dailies on Monday.
Al-Quds reported specialized committees were formed by the Islamic Endowment (Waqf) Department to determine whether Israeli police and settlers have tampered with the manuscripts and documents in the mosque compound.
Al-Quds also reported chairman of the Jerusalem International Center Hassan Khater revealing that Israeli police and settlers have stolen documents and title deeds of the Islamic Waqf property in Jerusalem from the holy site.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said following Palestinian worshippers’ protests, Israeli occupation authorities reopened Bab al-Matharah, which leads to the mosque compound, following a two-week closure.
They added Israeli occupation authorities have compiled and posted a list of “wanted” Palestinians at the gates of the mosque compound.
Al-Ayyam reported groups of Israeli Jewish settlers forced their way into the mosque compound, triggering tensions with Palestinians in the vicinity of the mosque.
Highlighting other Israeli violations and assaults, al-Quds said Israeli forces have turned several Palestinian homes in Azzun, east of Qalqiliya, into military outposts, which poses a new disaster for Palestinian residents.
Al-Ayyam said Israeli settlers were laying the groundwork for the construction of two settlement outposts on thousands of dunums of seized Palestinian land in the northern Jordan Valley.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported Israeli forces chased Palestinian children in East Jerusalem and shot and injured two Palestinians in Jenin refugee camp.
It added Israeli forces shut down the main entrance of Kobar village, north of Ramallah, for the fifth time in a two-week period while Israeli bulldozers razed lands in the Hebron-district village of Kharsa to set up a military tower.
Spotlighting the victory of Jerusalemite Palestinians in the battle over Al-Aqsa, al-Quds published an article titled The Victory of Jerusalemite Palestinians have united the Palestinian people, but would it encourage Palestinian factions to restore their unity?
The dailies reported Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki announcing that the Palestinian Authority (PA) would submit a referral application on Israeli settlements to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the coming days.
Al-Quds said the Central Elections Commission announced the initial results of the complementary municipal elections that were conducted on Saturday in 25 polling centers in the West Bank.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said President Mahmoud Abbas received a phone call from the King Abdullah of Jordan to check on hi health following a routine medical checkup and agreed to meet in Amman soon.
Al-Quds reported deputy chairman of Fatah, Mahmoud al-Aloul, denying reports that Abbas would disband the Palestinian Legislative Council.
The dailies reported tens of thousands of Turks rallied in Istanbul to protest measures taken by Israel in Jerusalem and to show solidarity with Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Referring to a report published by the Palestinian Forum of Israeli Studies (Madar), al-Quds said the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, has discussed 156 racist and pro-occupation and settlement bills since the start of the current parliamentary term.
Al-Ayyam reported Justice Minister Ali Abu Diak rejecting an Israeli proposal that debt owed to Israel be deducted from the tax revenues collected on behalf of the PA.
