MUSCAT, April 13, 2017 (WAFA) – The general assembly of the Arab Satellite Telecommunications Organization, Arabsat, Thursday exempted Palestine from whatever debt and fees it had incurred for using Arabsat services in 2016.

This came at the request of Palestine during the 40th session of Arabsat general assembly meeting held in the Omani capital, Muscat.

Ahmad Assaf, chairman of the Palestine Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) and WAFA News and Information Agency, who headed the Palestinian delegation to the Arabsat meeting, thanked the members of the assembly for their support for Palestine saying that “this support sends a message to the Palestinian people that the Arab nation still considers the Palestinian cause to be the Arabs’ primary cause.”

He said “this support has political and material implications for the Palestinian people and cause.”
