Israeli forces detain eight Palestinians in West Bank raids

RAMALLAH, April 7, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Friday detained at least eight Palestinians during multiple overnight raids across a number of West Bank districts, said locals and security sources.

Israeli forces Silwad, northeast of Ramallah, the hometown of Malik Hamed, 23, who killed an Israeli soldier and injured another in an alleged car-ramming attack near the town a day earlier.

Large numbers of troops stormed the village amid heavy fire of teargas bombs, reportedly preventing residents from performing Friday dawn prayers, sparking clashes.  

Troops stormed and ransacked the family home of Hamed, handcuffing and detaining his father, Ahmad, 51, and his brother, Mousa, 17.

They ransacked a number of other homes, detaining two more Palestinians, including a member of the Hamed family, and reportedly seizing a number of vehicles and a sum of money.

Meanwhile, forces detained two Palestinians during raids into the eastern and western neighborhoods of Nablus city in the northern West Bank.

Forces conducted similar raids across Bethlehem city in the southern West Bank, detaining two Palestinians, including a 55-year-old elderly.
