Israeli forces uproot 135 olive trees in Salfit

SALFIT, April 3, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Monday uprooted 135 olive trees and destroyed terraces in Wadi Qana, town of Deir Istiya, governorate in Salfit, in the occupied West Bank, local sources said.

A witness said Israeli forces closed the main road that leads to Wadi Qana with dirt, uprooted olive trees and destroyed terraces in the area.

Nazmi al-Salman, Deir Istiya municipality council member, told WAFA that the olive trees that were uprooted belong to Abd al-Aziz Aqel and Moqbel Awwad.

He noted that Israeli forces seized the uprooted trees.

Al-Salman added that this is not the first time olive trees are uprooted by Israeli forces in Wadi Qana.

He said that they uprooted more than 2000 trees in the recent years and destroyed a fountains rehabilitation project that was funded by the Palestinian Ministry of Finance.
