Video shows Israeli policemen assaulting Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, March 23, 2017 (WAFA) – A video tape played on the internet on Thursday showed an Israeli police officer beating and assaulting Palestinians in the occupied East Jerusalem neighborhood of Wadi al-Joz.

The tape showed two other police officers aiding their colleague in the assault.

Ahmad Tibi, a Palestinian lawmaker in the Israeli parliament, asked the Israeli ministers of home security and interior as well as police chief to arrest the policemen involved in the assault and to question them, charging that “systematic and continuing incitement against everything Arab” as encouraging such acts by the police.

Responding to Tibi’s demand, Israeli Minister of Home Security Gilad Irdan said the main police officer involved was immediately removed from the force and that he will be brought before a hearing committee.

Tibi however insisted that the police officers involved in the incident should be arrested immediately and brought to trial.
