Newspapers Review: Palestinian Ex-Detainee Dies Due to Israeli Medical Negligence

RAMALLAH, August 17, 2016 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused on Wednesday on the death of former Palestinian detainee in Israeli jails Naeem Al-Shawamrah, who was said to have died due to medical negligence while in Israeli jails.

The dailies also focused on the Israeli forces’ fatal shooting of a Palestinian teenager in al-Fawwar refugee camp near Hebron city. About 1500 Israeli soldiers raided the camp on Tuesday morning, provoking clashes which resulted in the killing of one teenajer and the injury of dozens others.

Al-Quds reported that Supreme Court of Israel has delayed the demolition order of Al-Khan Al-Ahmar School, east of Jerusalem, until the August 23.

Al-Quds quoted the Chairman of committee of detainees and ex-detainees affairs, Issa Qaraqi, who said that an agreement was reached with Israeli authorities to hand over the bodies of the killed Palestinians whose bodies are withheld by Israel.

Al-Hayat Al-Jadidah reported that Israeli groups are plotting to demolish Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, the third holiest Islamic site, according to Israeli Channel II. The Israeli channel also reported that these groups are encouraging Israelis ro perform provocative visits to the site.

Al-Hayat Al-Jadidah and Al-Ayyam said that the Israeli army is working to recruit members of the "Hilltop Youth" terror organization, which is responsible for many terrorist attacks against Palestinian civilians.

Al-Ayyam reported that Israeli authorities continuing the intensive demolitioncampaign in the West Bank, with more than nine Palestinian-owned homes demolished in the towns of Sa’ir and Beit Jala, in southern West Bank.

Al-Ayyam said that the Israeli Internal Security Agency (Shabak) had announced the detention of nine Palestinians allegedly affiliated with Lebanon-based Hezbollah organization.
