ROME, July 27, 2025 (WAFA) – Pope Leo XIV expressed his deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, stressing that hunger is crushing civilians there.

This came during his traditional prayer on Sunday from the window of his office overlooking St. Peter's Square, during which the Pope spoke about the situation in Gaza.

The Pope said, "I am following with deep concern the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, where hunger is crushing the civilian population, which continues to be subjected to violence and death."

He renewed his call for "a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and full respect for humanitarian law."
