Israeli repression units storm Naqab Prison, assault Palestinian detainees

RAMALLAH, July 27, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported on Sunday that Israeli repression forces carried out a violent raid five days ago on Sections 11 and 16 of Ward 22 in the Naqab (Ketziot) Prison.

According to a brief statement by the Commission, the raid was triggered by a "trivial and unjustified" incident. Prisoners had reportedly requested plastic containers to store food, prompting a harsh response from the special Israeli repression units.

The statement said all detainees in the targeted sections were brutally assaulted, both physically and with rubber bullets. Several were injured, and none were provided with medical treatment afterward.

Human rights organizations, including Amnesty International and Addameer, have consistently documented inhumane conditions faced by Palestinian detainees, including systematic medical neglect, physical and psychological abuse, solitary confinement, and the denial of basic rights such as access to lawyers and family visits.

The Naqab (Ketziot) Prison has long been a site of severe conditions and mass incarceration. Thousands of Palestinian political prisoners have been held there over the years, many under Israel's controversial policy of administrative detention, which allows imprisonment without charge or trial.
