RAMALLAH, July 2, 2016 (WAFA) -  The killing of a Palestinian woman by Israeli forces following an alleged stabbing attack in Hebron coupled with the death of a Palestinian man from tear gas inhalation at a Jerusalem checkpoint hit the front page headlines in Palestinian dailies.

The three dailies reported a Palestinian woman from the Hebron town of Bani Naim was killed by Israeli forces in the vicinity of the Ibrahim Mosque, known to Jews as the Cave of the Patriarchs, in Hebron’s Old City.

Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida added the woman was pregnant.

It is worth noting that woman, identified as Sarah Tarayra, 27, was killed allegedly after attempting to stab a soldier.

Moreover, the three dailies said a Palestinian elderly also died as a result of excessive tear gas inhalation after Israeli forces heavily fired tear gas canisters at Palestinian crowds who attempted to cross Qalandiya checkpoint from Ramallah into Jerusalem to attend prayers in Al-Aqsa Mosque.

It is worth noting the man, identified as Muhammad Habash, 63, came from the Nablus village of Asira al-Shamaliya in the northern West Bank.

Furthermore, the three dailies covered a deadly shooting that left an Israeli settler dead by a Palestinian suspect in the southern West Bank district of Hebron.

The three dailies said an Israeli settler was killed and his wife and two children were injured as a result of the attack near the Hebron village of As-Samou‘.

It is worth noting in this regard that the group of settlers reportedly came under fire as they were driving in their car near Otniel settlement, south of Hebron. The suspected Palestinian attacker reportedly comes from the Hebron town of Bani Naim.

The three dailies covered Israeli cabinet’s reprisals against Palestinians in the aftermath of the deadly attack.

Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said the southern West Bank district of Hebron was placed under a general closure.

The three dailies also said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a partial deduction from the monthly ax revenues Israel collects on behalf of the Palestinian Authority (PA).

The three dailies added Israeli Education Minister Naftali Bennett proposed an “offensive” or “revenge” plan against Palestinians in Hebron, proposing that Israeli forces conduct a large-scale detention campaign across Hebron and carry out all approved demolition orders against Palestinian structures as well as that internet and cellular access be cut off in Hebron.

Palestinian official disappointment over the much-awaited Middle East Quartet’s report also hit the front page headlines in the dailies.

Al-Quds said Palestinian officials expressed their “resentment” over the Middle East Quartet’s report, while al-Ayyam said they vehemently criticized the report.

Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported Palestinian officials as stating the report equalizes or draws a parallel between a people under occupation and occupier.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported Presidential Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh as stating Palestinian leadership sought a report that would help implement the resolutions of international legitimacy.

It also reported PLO Executive Committee Secretary-General Saeb Erekat as stating the PLO Executive Committee and Fatah Central Committee would convene within two days to examine and officially respond to the report.

Highlighting Muslim prayers on the last Friday of Ramadan in Al-Aqsa Mosque, al-Quds and al-Ayyam aid a total of 280,000 Palestinian Muslims performed Friday prayers in the mosque despite all Israeli access restrictions and checkpoints.
