RAMALLAH, June 19, 2016 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Sunday issue on President Mahmoud Abbas’ meeting with Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Al Thani, in the Qatari capital of Doha.
Al-Ayyam said both Abbas and Thani discussed mutual national affairs and examined ways to improve Palestinian-Qatari relations.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said Abbas and Thani discussed the latest developments of the Palestinian issue and the Middle East conflict.
Al-Quds said Islamic Hamas movement denied reports about a possible 10-year ceasefire with Israel.
Al-Ayyam said a Hamas-Fatah meeting in Doha to achieve national reconciliation has failed to achieve any progress.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Israeli authorities issued administrative detention orders, without charge or trial, against 17 Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said Mohamed Morsi, the deposed Egyptian President, was sentenced to life in prison for allegedly passing state secrets to Qatar.
Al-Ayyam said the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said efforts are underway to resume the peace process based on a two-state solution.
