Five Palestinians Detained in Jericho, Hebron Raids, Eight from West Bank

JERICHO, June 16, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday detained five Palestinians in predawn raids in Jericho and Hebron districts, bringing the number of detainees to eight, said security sources and locals.

Locals told WAFA four Israeli military vehicles raided Ein as-Sultan, north of Jericho city, around 3:30 p.m.

They handcuffed and detained three Palestinians after breaking into and ransacking their family houses. The detainees were identified as Yusef Weshah, Sultan Ibrahim and Muhammad Weshah.

Meanwhile, forces detained two Palestinians and stormed several houses during a predawn raid into Yatta town, south of Hebron, in the southern West Bank.

Locals identified the detainees and Ibrahim Shreiteh, 22, and Walid al-Jundi, 28.

Troops stormed and thoroughly searched several houses belonging to Khaled Makhamra, Taleb Makhamra, Baha’ Makhamra, who was briefly held for several hours, Muhammad Id‘eis, Fouad Shamsli, Muhammad al-Jundi, Muhammad al-Jundi and Ahmad al-Jundi.

This came as other two Palestinians were dawn Thursday detained from Bethlehem district and another from Qalqilia.

This came as Israeli forces continued to blockade the town after it transpired that the two suspected Palestinians who committed a fatal shooting attack in Tel Aviv were from the town.

Israeli bulldozers sealed all entrances to the town with earth mounds and rocks, preventing locals from entering or leaving the area.

The families of the two Palestinians accused of carrying out the fatal Tel Aviv attack were officially notified that their houses would be punitively demolished.
