RAMALLAH, August 16, 2015
(WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused on Sunday on the Israeli
army’s shooting and killing of a Palestinian teenager in Huwwara, south of
Nablus, together with the shooting and injury of another Palestinian near Ramallah.
They said the Israeli army on
Saturday shot and killed 16-year-old Rafik Kamel al-Taj for allegedly
attempting to stab an Israeli soldier near Huwwara’s main street.
The three dailies reported that
president Mahmoud Abbas denounced the killing of al-Taj and held the Israeli
government fully responsible for this serious escalation.
The dailies added that Israeli
soldiers shot and injured a Palestinian in a separate incident that took place near
the village of Beit ‘Ur al-Tahta, to the west of Ramallah.
The three dailies – al-Quds,
al-Hayat al-Jadida, and al-Ayyam – said a high-profile Fatah delegation is set
to visit Iran in the near future, in an effort to improve relations between
both sides in the aftermath of Iran’s nuclear deal with the West; The US and
five other leading world powers.
Al-Ayyam said the health
condition of hunger striking Palestinian prisoner in Israeli jails Mohammad
Allan has significantly deteriorated. However, al-Quds reported that he was in
a relatively stable health condition.
The three dailies reported that
Egyptian authorities opened the Rafah border crossing with Gaza for both arrivals
and departures for four days starting on Monday.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Arab
Bank has agreed to settle a litigation case brought by hundreds of Americans
who accused it of facilitating armed attacks in Israel and the Palestinian
Territories.
Al-Quds said that Israeli
settlers torched a house owned by the Abu-Nab family in East Jerusalem’s
neighborhood of Silwan about two weeks ago.
