RAMALLAH, July 24, 2025 (WAFA) – France has denounced Israeli for targeting of Palestinian civilians attempting to obtain humanitarian aid in Gaza, which has resulted in 1,000 reported fatalities over the past two months, according to United Nations data.
In a statement released Wednesday, the French Foreign Ministry affirmed the famine in Gaza is a direct consequence of the Israeli blockade, expressing deep concern over Israel's attacks in central Gaza Strip, where evacuation orders have displaced tens of thousands of civilians in Deir al-Balah.
These evacuations have severally hindered the work of several UN agencies and international NGOs.
The European Union called on Israel to stop killing Palestinian civilians at aid distribution points. EU Foreign Affairs Chief Kaja Kallas said she told her Israeli counterpart that the Israeli forces must stop killing civilians at aid distribution points in Gaza.
She said in a post on X, "The killing of civilians seeking aid in Gaza is indefensible."
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also wrote on X, "Civilians must never be targeted. The images from Gaza are unbearable. This must stop now. Israel must uphold its obligations under international law.”
