Ghana calls for immediate ceasefire in Gaza, condemns Israeli atrocities

ACCRA, July 24, 2025 (WAFA) – Ghana's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Ablakwa, has called for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and strongly condemned the campaign of mass killing carried out by Israeli occupation forces.

The statement came following Ablakwa's meeting with Mahmoud Al-Habbash, Chief Justice of Palestine and Religious Affairs Advisor to President Mahmoud Abbas, who visited Accra as a special envoy of the Palestinian President.

In a press release issued after the meeting, Ablakwa reiterated Ghana's demand for an immediate end to the war in Gaza. He condemned the ongoing Israeli atrocities, reaffirmed Ghana's unwavering support for a two-state solution in accordance with United Nations resolutions, and urged an end to the forced displacement of Palestinians.

The minister also stressed the importance of ensuring the safe and unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid into the besieged territory.

As a current member of the United Nations Human Rights Council, Ghana, Ablakwa affirmed, remains committed to upholding the principles of the UN Charter, promoting human rights, and supporting a rules-based international order. He underscored Ghana's aspiration to continue playing a constructive global role in the pursuit of peace.
